Mrs. Armstrong is an ailing elderly woman living in New York City. She is the mother of Miss Armstrong, the lady's maid of Agnes van Rhijn, and is dependent on her care.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Mrs. Armstrong lives in relative poverty. Her illness forces her to be dependent on her daughter, Miss Armstrong, who is a lady's maid for the van Rhijn family, and has to dedicate the vast majority of her free time to taking care of her.
Season 1[]
During one of her free afternoons, Miss Armstrong goes to her mother to take care of her, and cooks her lunch and cleans the apartment. Mrs. Armstrong is generally rude and ungrateful to her daughter, and ruins the apple pie that she was given by the van Rhijn cook, Mrs. Bauer. When her daughter's free afternoon comes to the end, she returns to the van Rhijn house, hiding her tears from Mrs. Bauer and the rest of the staff.[1]
