Caroline Schermerhorn "Carrie" Astor is an American heiress as the daughter of William Backhouse Astor Jr. and Caroline Schermerhorn Astor. As a member of the Astor family, she is a prominent member of New York society.
She meets Larry Russell at party hosted by Mamie Fish in Newport leading to her eventually befriending his younger sister Gladys Russell. She dances at the Gladys' debutante ball and convinces her mother to also attend.
